Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (A-G ACNP) track prepares graduates to provide independent and collaborated management of young, middle, and older adults from diverse populations who are suffering from acute, critical, or chronic illnesses. The program has emphasis on stabilization and management of this population in a variety of settings. Practice sites are variable but focused in high-acuity inpatient settings. The program is offered online through the Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses.

A variety of clinical sites are available but must be within the State of Florida.  Travel may be required periodically for structured clinical learning experiences.

Individualized clinical learning experiences are arranged in appropriate health care settings located in proximity to the student’s place of residence. A-G ACNP graduates and students who complete the post-masters ACNP certificate program are eligible for national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).

Please be advised, progression in advanced practice nursing tracks requires supervised and precepted experience in specialized clinical settings. Students admitted to APN tracks are advised that they may be required to travel to clinical sites for these experiences, and that if they are unable to their progress in the curriculum will be delayed.
